The Art Café has had a powerful impact on the young people who take part, supporting them to grow in confidence, improve their wellbeing, and form meaningful friendships. Their creativity extends beyond the group, creating a lasting community impact through opportunities to showcase their work. From exhibitions at Bishop Auckland Town Hall which was viewed by 8276 visitors and local bus stop displays to features within the local university, their art is helping their voices be seen, heard, and celebrated by a wider audience.
Engagement and Outcomes
The Art Café continues to grow in both reach and impact, with up to 30 young people regularly attending sessions as its popularity rises. Young people are actively involved and empowered to take on leadership roles within the group. From delivering presentations that celebrate different cultures to applying for funding and organising their own activities, participants are developing confidence while supporting each other to learn new creative skills and crafts.
